Pleasure and Quality from the Allgäu
At Gabler-Saliter, we live by values that form the foundation of our daily work and shape our relationships with customers, employees, and partners. Our most important values are: quality, regionality, innovation, and sustainability.
Quality
Milk is the very soul of our work. It is handled with the utmost care. We don’t leave quality to chance! It is the sum total of precise procedures and conscientious control processes. We are only satisfied with the highest quality and are regularly awarded IFS standard certification following unannounced inspections. You can find our current certificates under Downloads.
GMO-free
We do not use genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in our milk or ingredients. Our farmers undertake not to feed their animals with genetically modified feed or feed produced with the aid of GMOs. We voluntarily label our products with the “Ohne Gentechnik” (GMO-free) seal, awarded by the food association “Verband Lebensmittel ohne Gentechnik” (VLOG). So you can be sure that our products naturally contain only the best.
Regionality
Saliter remains true to its roots: in addition to its pioneering spirit, it is above all the long-established connection to the Allgäu and regional agriculture. For many decades, we have been receiving our milk daily from our own dairy farmers within a radius of around 30 kilometres. In the Allgäu, children have grown up drinking good Saliter cocoa! This brings back childhood memories and encourages us to remain loyal to our beautiful home region of the Allgäu and to do our best every day to preserve it and its delicious dairy products.
Innovation
Innovation is a tradition for us and is also our motto for the future. Over the decades, Saliter has developed from a pure milk processing company into a centre of excellence for infant formula and speciality products, among other things. Our own development team works with our B2B partners to develop highly specialised formulations (e.g. for enteral nutrition). But we are also working on developing new flavours and recipes in the area of indulgence products in order to be able to offer our consumers a varied range for everyday family life.
Sustainability
Economic sustainability: As a company with a long history, sustainable management is a matter of course for us. The long-term safeguarding and expansion of the values we have created can be seen, for example, in the investments at the Obergünzburg site over the last 5 years. A total of around 30 million euros has been invested in new buildings and technical facilities in order to maintain future viability. With these investments, J.M. Gabler-Saliter is maintaining its position as a secure employer and a reliable partner for its dairy farmers.
Social sustainability: With an eye to the future, J.M. Gabler-Saliter does not lose sight of its responsibility for social sustainability. The company’s own values and the Ehrmann Code of Conduct stand for everything that characterises Ehrmann and its subsidiaries and distinguishes them from others. They shape our day-to-day dealings within the company, provide support and orientation and show what we strive for together as a company. They are our firm foundation in times of dynamic market development and the basis for exemplary and responsible behaviour within the company. By acting responsibly, we want to create a basis that further strengthens the trust of our customers, our business partners and the public.
Ecological sustainability: At J.M. Gabler-Saliter, we are committed to a sustainable future. As a traditional company in the Allgäu region, we see it as our responsibility to protect our environment and use our resources efficiently, and we strive to minimise our ecological footprint in the Allgäu region and beyond and to manufacture our products in a way that protects the environment. This includes:
- Regional sourcing: we source our milk from local farmers within a 30 km radius of Obergünzburg in order to minimise transport costs and support the regional economy.
- Energy efficiency: we invest in energy-efficient technologies to reduce our energy consumption and minimise our CO2 emissions. The Obergünzburg site is certified in accordance with DIN ISO EN 50001, which means that an energy management system has been introduced and is practised.
- Water conservation: we are committed to the responsible use of water and implement measures to continuously reduce our water consumption.
- Waste reduction: we work every day to reduce our waste volumes and increase our recycling rates.
- Nature conservation: For many years, J.M. Gabler-Saliter has been involved with the Günztal Cultural Landscape Foundation, which is particularly committed to nature conservation and landscape management in the region. www.guenztal.de

Training young people is very important to us. At J.M. Gabler-Saliter, we offer young people the opportunity to shape their future and start a successful career in the dairy industry. Our apprenticeships at Saliter are a great opportunity to gain practical experience, learn new skills and become part of a company with a long tradition.
After successfully completing their apprenticeships, we offer our trainees the opportunity to stay with our company and develop their careers further.
